Sophomore Josh Masek is the lead singer of the band Mikey and the Wops. The band also consists of drums, bass, and a guitar player. Mikey and the Wops started up about three months ago.

They, “found each other at a local rock bar,” said Masek.

Ever since then, they have been practicing at their main guitarist, Mikey Scotella’s garage.

Although they met such a short time ago, there clearly is a strong connection between the band.

“We get to connect in a way that makes us work together as functioning friends,”Masek jokingly said.

Mikey and the Wops regularly play at MoJo’s and at Joliet’s bakery.

Their next performance will be at Joliet’s Bakery Deli and Liquors on 821 Plainfield Road, Joliet IL 60435 on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. “Come out and support our band,” Masek said.
