The boys bowling team is ready to strike into action heading into the last month of their season and are striving for a win at IHSA regionals.
Head coach Nicole Jensik wants to give her team the ability to “set their own goals but still have fun while bowling. Working hard to improve is a major part of the team’s culture, and a focus of practices.
“This year I want to improve overall, specifically holding the ball behind my back during my approach,” freshman, Logan Gipes said.
Along with individual goals, athletes have team goals that they all strive to achieve.
“I want to make it to state, but also I hope for us as a team to qualify for state,” senior, Vincent Catron said.
Coach Jensik has her fair share of experience and has a special motivation to coach this team.
“My dad taught me how to bowl when I was four years old, and I have been bowling ever since. I wanted to give these kids the same experience and help them grow,” Jensik said.
Having success and seeing all the hard work pay off is a great part of any sport and can create memorable moments.
“My favorite moment was when I bowled my first 200 game,” senior, Ethan Evans said.
Being part of a team can be a big help and create a supportive environment for everyone to grow.
“I’d say a strength is collaboration, the seniors come down to JV to help out,” Jensik said.
Bowling can create a fun and exciting environment. Competitions are a great way to experience that environment.
“If you want a stadium environment inside, join bowling,” assistant coach, Ireland Binkowski said.
Members of the team bowl outside of school as a way to further their skills and have fun with the sport they love.
“I bowl for fun and in a league during the offseason,” Catron said.
