Girls volleyball is working toward their goals this season with a record of 5-15 and has more time to keep a good streak going. The girls will compete in their regional on Oct. 28 at 6pm at Joliet West High school.
“Our goals were to improve our record from last season and have a strong conference showing,” Robert Richardson, head coach, said. “The biggest thing is just the concept of patience, not everything is instant and there are a lot more moving pieces that have to be adjusted than what it looks like on the outside.”
The girls want to have a good end to the season and take everything they learned from the season and bring it onto the court.
“My main goal is to finish the season strong and have fun,” Peyton Facio, senior, said. “Winning our pink out game against East, it felt good seeing our practice and training pay off.”
Even though they didn’t start the season great, they are improving and are taking the win against Plainfield East as motivation to keep pushing.
“Beating East, it was like our first really good win and it sort of brought us all up a little bit. We were all down because of our losses,” Captain Alivia Arsenault, senior, said.
The team has its struggles, but ultimately they never give up. They support the rest of the team.
“The girls want to do well and they want to do well for each other, so they are passionate about what they do and they just really don’t ever quit,” Richardson said.
The team is strong and hopes to keep getting stronger as the season goes on by relying on one another.
“My favorite thing about volleyball is the team mentality, it is such a team sport and it is important to play as one,” Captain Reagan Mcintyre, senior, said.
To build the team, they do outings together, which brings them closer. The girls enjoy each other’s company and hope to keep building their relationships during the season.
“One of my favorite memories of the season is probably the team dinners. We are able to hang out as a team and just socialize outside of volleyball which also builds our connections with each other,” Alyssa Ignasak, junior, said.
